In Amanda's own words...

Like many Massage therapists, my Equine therapy journey originated from a passion to treat my own horse who in 2016 had a kissing spine operation. Sadly in 2021 I discovered her kissing spine was back with a vengeance and untreatable. The best the vet could offer was keeping her comfortable and pain free through her retirement. At this point I got qualified as an equine massage therapist to treat Molly initially, but because I loved the results I was seeing, I began to treat other horses until it grew into a business.

 

During the early months following re diagnosis, I had a light bulb moment. If through teaching Pilates, which I’ve been doing for 13 years, I could get people walking again, surely, I could try to help Molly by following the same principles. On top of what I’d been doing for years, I spent hours researching the globe to find exercises and stretches which would engage the core muscles to strengthen her back and improve her posture. After lots of practice and work with Molly the results started to show through. I started to ride her again in an outline and straight lines, progressing to more focussed work to strengthen her core. Recently my vet advised the strength and flexibility in her spine is so good, she can now return to full work. Just 18 months on from re diagnosis, you would think Molly was a fit and healthy horse. She has a strong core, a great top line and she is very flexible showing no signs of pain, it’s a dream come true.

 

I now share my equine Pilates program with horse owners to help them bring the incredible benefits of Pilates to their horse’s daily lives.
